We visited Madrid for a brief two days to round off our time in the Spain/Portugal region. The weather was the hottest we've experienced in the low 30's making us appreciate the shady parks even more. Madrid was a modern city with many tall buildings but still maintains character on each shop front. We ate some of the local specialty - calamari rolls - and found a top notch coffee shop in a back street. Unfortunately we missed the Real Madrid vs Juventus semi-final by a day, but maybe that was good after they didn't make it through to the finals ;)
